Allow cementing the annulus in two or more stages regardless of losses zones.
Challenges in Multistage cementing
When conducting multistage or two-stage cementing operations, low-pressure formations, such as depleted reservoirs, can cause difficulties. This is because the decreased hydrostatic pressure limits the cement’s ability to prevent fluid from entering the formation.
Similarly, high permeability zones can pose a challenge, as the increased fluid flow rate through the formation may prevent the cement slurry from filling the entire zone. In addition, achieving the desired cementing results can be difficult when casing strings are very long, as the cement has to travel a longer distance before setting properly.
All of these factors can cause significant cement losses, where the cement does not return to the surface, and can lead to insufficient annular integrity, resulting in further complications down the line.
Casing strings consist of steel packers and stage collars. An efficient hole section places the packer above troublesome formations. Once expanded, the packer provides active support for the Multistage cementing, circulated through the stage collar up to surface.
The robustness of our Steel Packer reduces the risk of damage during RIH, even in slim holes. In order to ease the operation and ensure proper cement placement, it is permissible to rotate the string when running-in. The high expansion ratio of the string ensures that it will effectively seal the borehole, even if it has been eroded or washed out. This enables a proper cementing and sealing of the well.
