Allow cementing the annulus in two or more stages regardless of losses zones.
Challenges in Multistage cementing
Low-pressure formations, such as depleted reservoirs, can cause difficulty in multistage cementing or two stage cementing operations. Because of the decreased hydrostatic pressure which reduces the ability of the cement to hold back fluid from the formation.
High permeability zones can also present a challenge as the cement slurry may not be able to fill the entire zone due to the increased flow rate of the fluid through the formation. Very long casing strings can also make it difficult to achieve the desired cementing results as the cement has to travel a longer distance before it can properly set.
All of these factors can lead to significant cement losses, where the cement does not return to the surface, and insufficient annular integrity which can lead to further complications down the line.
Solution
Casing strings consist of steel packers and stage collars. An efficient hole section places the packer above troublesome formations. Once expanded, the packer provides active support for the Multistage cementing, circulated through the stage collar up to surface.
The robustness of our Steel Packer reduces the risk of damage during RIH, even in slim holes. In order to ease the operation and ensure proper cement placement, it is permissible to rotate the string when running-in. The high expansion ratio of the string ensures that it will effectively seal the borehole, even if it has been eroded or washed out. This enables a proper cementing and sealing of the well.
